Final Figure

Collected by Roland of Horwich this dance was written by the original Horwich team probably around 1904. Travelling to competitions the team found themselves in Fleetwood and wrote a dance for the occasion. I stand to be corrected as it was Roland who corrected my spiel about the Original Polka!
Only ever performed by the team for one season. This in spite of the dance having the interesting(?) feature that dancers move position in the set of four after each figure. So the step-up is NOT something that can be used as a safety net if things go awry. Also the caller can play mental games by moving dancers to each position in the set of four for step-ups before returning them to their start positions. Maybe that's why the dance only lasted one season much to Chris Stevens chagrin as we were learing it when he joined and everyone's favourite dance is the one they first learnt.
