Developed in the 2000’s by John Earnshaw using as a basis variant steps from the NW tradition. Unusually this can be performed by "as many as will" rather than the usually "any multiple of four. In fact first performed as a duo in the 2009 season by 2010 combinations of eight or more were getting out and performing this one. Being danced out by Briggate and having been taught at a workshop at the 2010 Sidmouth Festival it may become even more widely known.
Those with memories of the past will recall another dance designed to show off variants of the NW stepping styles - "Plymouth Reel". Fond memories of the now long gone but fondly remembered Lancashire Folly performing this and of course Yorkshires own Hartshead Morris. This may also spark some controversy about just what a "Royton" step should look like. Anyone got a copy of Maud Karpeles notes on the Royton dance to hand?
