This is a version of the Ashton Processional Polka as danced by the Stalywood Morris. More exactly the Millbrook version from around 1906. Danced pretty regularly if only for the surprise ending. Collected @ 1970 TO.
Memories Danced by several other sides with some variations noted. The subject of much controversy at one time over the exact nature of the “Cross Molly” figure. This was tracked down to the dance being common to the repertoire of the men’s and women’s sides, so you get a feel for how long this dance has been with the team. After much discussion a common format was agreed based on the shared agreement that there were 20 steps in the figure and that being across the music coming out of it was a design feature not a fault!
